Storyclash now takes Instagram and Youtube into account - Swissmeme takes the top spot

Storyclash’s Social News Ranking now also includes Instagram and YouTube. This changes quite a bit—and makes the ranking more diverse.

As announced in the October issue, Storyclash has expanded its rankings. The Storyclash social media rankings now include interactions from Facebook and Twitter as well as also Instagram and Youtube are taken into account. In addition to articles and video postings, images, GIFs and status messages are also included.

This has consequences at the top of the rankings: Swissmeme now leads the rankings by a considerable margin - with an impressive number of over 2.5 million Instagram interactions. And Energy Switzerland has rapidly pushed 20 Minuten out of second place. This is hardly surprising, as Instagram is also the strongest discipline for Energy. The two rivals in the ranking, Blick and 20 Minuten, perform about equally well on Instagram. It is striking that SRF also seems to have the popular social network under control.

Also noteworthy: Izzy, the new youth magazine of Ringier, continues to climb in November without any major detours. This is already in October but at the time we didn't know who was behind the magazine.

The changes have opened up the ranking to various new players who are primarily active (and successful) on Instagram and have therefore not previously appeared in the top rankings. Once again, it becomes clear that Storyclash applies a broad concept of medium. The prerequisite for this is that the actor does not appear as a person or brand, but as a company. In addition, regular content must be produced. Bloggers, artists, influencers or stars are therefore not included. However, the employment of an editorial team, for example, is not a prerequisite for being listed.

As mentioned above, the top posts can be reorganized. This will open up new scope for analysis and interpretation in the coming months - especially in the articles.

The Austrian start-up Storyclash records social interaction with media content. Every month, the social news ranking shows which media providers have performed well and which were the posts with the most interactions. Werbewoche publishes the ranking exclusively in Switzerland - also in 2018. (hae)
