Social Media Summit 2024 breaks records: early sell-out leads to expansion

This year, the Social Media Summit 2024 broke all previous records and established itself as Switzerland’s largest—and now even larger—social media marketing conference. Over 650 attendees visited the picturesque mountain village of Engelberg to draw inspiration from leading experts in the world of social media.

The seventh edition of the Social Media Summit marked the biggest milestone in the history of the conference to date - and broke all records in the process. The event was completely sold out five weeks before it began, transforming Switzerland's largest social media marketing conference into an even more important event. The continuing demand and a long waiting list presented the organizers with a major challenge. In a remarkable move, they decided to significantly expand the event, adding four stages in two main venues at short notice to accommodate the growing number of participants. This expansion made it possible to open ticket sales one last time and give many on the waiting list the chance to take part after all.

"Demand has exceeded our wildest dreams"

Tanja Herrmann, founder and managing director of the Social Media Summit: "The overwhelming demand has exceeded our wildest dreams. We did everything possible to create additional capacity and enable as many interested parties as possible to attend. Expanding the entire conference set-up at short notice was a logistical challenge, but it was absolutely worth it."

The Summit kicked off on November 6 with a series of masterclasses. Over 390 participants took the opportunity to take part in 16 interactive masterclasses on topics such as storytelling, performance, personal branding and fundraising on social media. The day was rounded off with the "Legendary Gin Night" in what is probably the world's largest gin bar.

The Conference Day on November 7 featured a varied program of presentations, Q&As and panels in which TikTok, Meta, LinkedIn, Pinterest and YouTube, among others, provided exclusive insights into usage figures, AI integrations and best practices.

Tanja Herrmann was delighted: "The response from participants and speakers confirms that the Social Media Summit is in tune with the times and provides important impetus for the industry.

Thanks to its enormous success, the largest - and now even larger - social media conference in Switzerland will enter its eighth edition on November 5 and 6, 2025, once again transforming Engelberg into the epicenter of the social media world.
