The report is Facebook's response to allegations of voter manipulation on the social network, including in the 2016 US presidential election. Facebook recently set up a kind of operations center at its headquarters to take action against misinformation and manipulation on the network.

According to the report presented on Tuesday, around 256 million dollars have been spent on almost 1.7 million political advertisements since last May. Leading the spending with $5.4 million was the Beto for Texas organization, which is backing Democrat Beto O'Rourke against Republican Ted Cruz in the race for a Texas Senate seat.

In second place is the "Trump Make America Great Again" committee with Facebook advertising expenditure of 3.1 million dollars. The report is to be updated weekly. (SDA)
