Facebook loses another million users in Europe
Following the recent data scandals and the effects of the EU Data Protection Regulation, Facebook continues to lose users in Europe. In the past quarter, the number of monthly active members fell from 376 to 375 million.

Facebook had already lost one million users in Europe in the previous quarter. However, the online network continues to grow worldwide. The number of Facebook users active at least once a month increased from 2.23 billion to 2.27 billion within three months. And advertising revenue is also continuing to grow significantly: quarterly revenue rose by around a third year-on-year to 13.7 billion dollars. Profits climbed by nine percent to just under 1.34 billion dollars, as Facebook announced on Tuesday.
In the USA and Canada, Facebook now has 242 million monthly active users - one million more than three months ago. It is by far the most lucrative market for the online network: Facebook generated revenue of 27.61 dollars per user here in the last quarter. In Europe, the figure is 8.82 dollars per user and 6.09 dollars worldwide. (SDA)
