20 Minuten returns in the storyclash ranking and attacks Blick
How are Swiss media outlets performing on social media? In December 2018, Ringier’s months-long dominance in the Storyclash rankings came to an end. 20 Minuten and SRF are gaining ground significantly and setting their sights on the top spot.

As it seems, pull 20 minutes and SRF are tightening the social media screw at full speed and are noticeably stepping up their activities. This is paying off. Although the main competitor View manages a strong December (interaction increase of 8 percent), the commuter medium from Tamedia takes its place on the podium with a giant leap and an increase of 51 percent over the previous month. And comes the runner-up View Only a good 20,000 interactions separate the two biggest news portals.
Energy Switzerland remained the undisputed leader. Even though the radio group's performance was slightly weaker than in the previous month, its comfortable, huge lead over the following places ensured that nothing would go wrong. Quite in contrast to the Ringier sister media Evening view and IzzyThey each lose 26 percent and have to move from 20 minutes and let SRF overtake.
SRF, meanwhile, seems to be putting a lot of effort into Instagram and, with almost 700,000 interactions in December, is the second most "classic" medium in Switzerland after Energy on the photo network, which is increasingly focusing on moving images.
French-speaking Swiss media still strong on Facebook
The most successful post in December was the 20 Minutes article about the halal production of Toblerone. The topic stirred up emotions far beyond the country's borders and generated more than 58,000 interactions on Facebook alone. In the top list of articles, it is once again striking: The media in French-speaking Switzerland use Facebook much more successfully than is the case in other parts of the country: seven of the ten articles that caused the most furor on social media in December come from French-speaking Switzerland and can be attributed to 20 Minutes, Tribune de Genève and LeMatin.ch.
The Austrian start-up Storyclash records social interaction with media content. Every month, the Social News Ranking shows which media providers performed how and which were the posts with the most interactions. Werbewoche publishes the Swiss ranking exclusively.
