Maxomedia develops new customer portal for Energie Wasser Bern
Customers of the Bern-based energy provider can now take advantage of additional online services. Maxomedia is responsible for the design and implementation.
Whether changing address, ordering interim billing, changing products or checking your own energy consumption: The completely redesigned customer portal of the municipal energy supplier Energie Wasser Bern (EWB) offers customers a range of new options. The portal is based on the look and feel of the company website, which has been live since last summer and was nominated for the Best of Swiss Web Award in 2017 for its innovative user guidance.
User friendly guidance
Like the company website, the customer portal also relies on tiles. They can be used flexibly and adapt to any screen size. The flat design approach corresponds to the latest trends and is complemented by an emotional image on the start page, which conveys the corporate identity of Energie Wasser Bern to the outside world.
The focus was entirely on user-friendly management. With the help of a dashboard, consumption and products are always kept in view. "Customers can find tips on how to save electricity on the company website. If they implement them, they can see the effects directly in the new customer portal," explains Bernhard Herzig, CEO of Maxomedia and overall responsible.
The biggest challenge was the connection to the SAP environment of Energie Wasser Bern, which was implemented in collaboration with Power Reply. "It was tricky when the invoice recipient and the customer differed or when there were several consumers, as in the case of a tinkering room. Not an easy task given the wide range of services offered by the energy provider," Herzig continues.
Energie Wasser Bern supplies around 70,000 households, 8,000 small and medium-sized enterprises and 100 large customers with electricity, natural gas, biogas and water, and offers a wide range of other services such as Internet and e-bike rental.
