Rethinking online advertising because of flash crisis?
ONLINE ADVERTISEMENT The Adobe Flash plug-in is being criticized and its future is uncertain. This also has consequences for online advertising, as many advertising media are based on Flash technology."Current browser developments require a rethink and, above all, a switch to HTML5 for Flash advertising media," says a press release from Goldbach Interactive (GBI). The full-service agency has been developing complete HTML5 campaigns for all channels (desktop, tablets and smartphones) since the beginning of 2014 in order to advertise to target groups with the power of animation. "The use of mobile devices continues to grow at an above-average rate," it continues. "This requires advertising media that can be successfully displayed on all end devices - mobile devices, for example, do not display Flash advertising media at all." From September 2015, Flash ads will also be paused in the Chrome browser until the user activates them with a single click. The current version of Firefox also blocks all Flash content that does not belong to the respective page. "Advertising on desktop and all mobile devices should urgently move away from Flash," advises Goldbach Interactive. The agency based in Zurich Wollishofen has been actively taking this into account for two years and produces online advertising material in HTML5. GBI thus enables advertising clients to present their products and services efficiently on all end devices with a wide reach. "HTML5 advertising media offer a wide range of functionalities such as video, audio, local storage and dynamic 2D and 3D graphics." GBI recently developed online advertising media for Rega, Mondovino and [email protected]. It has been developing HTML/JavaScript since 2010 and HTML5 advertising media for all devices since 2014.
