Netflix's recipe for success
MARKETING STRATEGY With a new campaign, streaming service Netflix is demonstrating what successful content marketing looks like. Here's how the company is capitalizing on the U.S. presidential primary campaign. The pre-election campaign for the possible presidential candidates in the USA has reached South Carolina. While the candidates are busily canvassing for votes, one candidate is certainly winning in all camps: the fictional politician Frank J. Underwood from the hit series "House of Cards". He is using his own election campaign to draw attention to the start of the fourth season on March 4, 2016.Netflix began the campaign in Greenville, South Carolina, which is 45 minutes away from the small town of Gaffney, Underwood's home town. Running a commercial during a break in the Republican debate was another smart move.

- The 1st month is free of charge. Customers can see the offer for themselves.
- The subscription can be canceled at any time at the end of a billing period, which is 30 days for Netflix.
- Netflix uses its big data to present customers with content that might interest them.
- They publish all episodes of a season of a "Netflix Original" series immediately. Every user can therefore decide for themselves how quickly they want to watch what.
- Own content: Series such as "House of Cards" or "Orange Is The New Black" are products of the analysis of the collected data and are therefore successful.
