The Swiss rely on these technologies of the future

GPS navigation, travel and tourism conceptThe newly launched, representative "Monitor of Future Technologies" by Marketagent.com Schweiz AG surveyed 1,000 people from German-speaking and French-speaking Switzerland on the level of awareness and basic usage considerations in relation to various industries, technologies, devices and processes. The trend towards the "sharing economy" also seems to be slowly finding its way into the Swiss accommodation business, as around half of Swiss people (52%) are familiar with AirBnB, for example, the best-known platform for short-term rentals of private living space. However, the number of people in Switzerland who host strangers in their own four walls is still manageable. Only 2% of the population open their doors to overnight guests. However, bookings are made via the platform: 22% of respondents have already stayed in AirBnB accommodation in Switzerland or abroad.French-speaking Swiss like UberAnother sector that is undergoing radical change is passenger transportation via cab: the accusation that the Uber service is stealing passengers from traditional cab operators is nothing new. The survey for the "Monitor of Future Technologies" shows that one in ten people have already used Uber. In German-speaking Switzerland, however, less than half as many (8%) use the service as in French-speaking Switzerland (20%). If a distinction is made according to age, it is most frequently the under-40s who use Uber. Are navigation devices on the brink of extinction?Manufacturers should also keep an eye on the acceptance and use of digital alternatives in the area of electrical appliances: Every second person in this country has a navigation device, for example. However, smartphones now also offer excellent navigation functions - and all with up-to-date map material. Do these apps mean the end of Garmin, TomTom and co. in the long term? The first edition of the "Monitor of Future Technologies" actually predicts a rather bleak future for the veterans of the navigation device business. Although 53% of those surveyed own a navigation device, only 21% of them plan to use it more frequently than the app in the next twelve months. 68% prefer to rely entirely on navigation via app.About the studyAs part of the newly launched "Monitor of Future Technologies" by Marketagent.com Switzerland, a representative survey was conducted to determine which offers, apps and technologies could become a latent threat to established players and industries.
