To the point: from water snake to horse

As we do every year, this issue features the creative rankings that the industry always eagerly anticipates. The *Werbewoche* creative rankings highlight the creative achievements of agencies that have won awards in national and international competitions.

The selection of the competitions and their corresponding weighting was done in cooperation with a delegation of the Art Directors Club of Switzerland. The ranking is based on the self-declarations of the participating agencies, which were, however, checked by the editorial team on the basis of the official rankings of the creative competitions. I would like to congratulate those who made it into the top ten.

Normally, we would also have introduced you to the six nominees for "Advertiser of the Year" in this issue. On page 38, you can read why the nomination of the candidates will take place at a later date.

2013 was an interesting year, but we want to look to the future. And there is a lot to see. Le Temps will have a new (or old?) owner. Veit Dengler, the new CEO, will show what he plans to do with his NZZ. Publicitas wants to make its new business model a success. Mobile advertising will continue to grow and maybe there will even be a clever monetization model. Watson, Hansi Voigt's new online portal, which is largely financed by AZ publisher Peter Wanner, is to be launched in the first quarter of 2014. More than 40 journalists, some of them very well-known, will then be on Watson. Peter Wanner plans to launch TV24, a new television station, next year. The discussion about quality in the media must and will continue. Hopefully, there will only be successes and no flops.

But for now, we're taking a short Christmas break. The next printed Werbewoche will appear on January 17, 2014. Until December 23 and from January 6, you will find ongoing news from the communications and media industry on Werbewoche.ch. We would like to thank you, dear reader, for your loyalty. We wish you a pleasant and peaceful time over the Christmas period and hope, together with you, for a successful and exciting 2014.
