Labor court approves lawsuit against Ringier Print Zofingen
Ringier Print Zofingen violated the Employee Participation Act when it outsourced its logistics and building cleaning operations. The Zofingen Labor Court upheld a lawsuit filed by Comedia. Ringier says it is surprised by the ruling and intends to wait for the written reasoning before considering further steps.
Ringier Print Zofingen has violated the Co-Determination Act by outsourcing its logistics and cleaning operations. On Wednesday, the Zofingen Labor Court upheld a complaint by the Comedia media union. In January 2007, the company had announced that it would outsource its logistics, with 47 employees, and the ten part-time employees in building cleaning to external companies.
According to the labor court, Ringier Print had not complied with the rights of the staff committee in terms of the duty to consult, the union announced after the hearing. The right to consultation encompasses more than mere information.
According to Comedia, it has repeatedly drawn the attention of Ringier's management to this grievance and demanded negotiations and consultations.
Ringier is surprised by the ruling. The company is waiting for the written reasons and will then consider whether to appeal the ruling to the next instance, according to company spokesman Marco Castellaneta in response to an inquiry from Werbewoche.
