Compresso takes the cake

On May 11, 2016, Compresso took over Kalanderplatz near Sihlcity to celebrate the release of «Angry Birds: The Movie.» Commissioned by Sony Pictures Switzerland, the agency brought the world-famous game featuring the angry birds to life.

Using two oversized slingshots, Angry Birds plush figures had to be shot at the castle of the nasty pigs from the movie. There was already a large crowd, as the campaign appealed to the inner play instinct of the young and not-so-young participants. As additional motivation, Sony Pictures offered the prospect of attractive instant prizes and the chance to take part in the draw for the main prize, namely a week in Mauritius. The enthusiasm was great and soon the friends and business colleagues of the participants turned up to shoot the bird for once in their lives, spurred on by presenter Gianfranco Salis.

The slingshots were already in continuous use at Fantasy Basel from May 5 to 7. "Visitors queued patiently for up to 45 minutes to stand behind the slingshots made of real wood. The game was the attraction par excellence," says a delighted Marco Schärer, Junior PR Manager at Sony Pictures Switzerland.

Thanks to a media cooperation organized by Compresso with one of Switzerland's largest radio stations, the reach of the event was significantly increased. Striking radio spots were broadcast several times a day and on the day of the event itself, the station's entire website was dedicated to the feathered hotheads.

Neon green and minimalist: Studio Marcus Kraft has designed a new visual identity for the Zurich-based interior architecture and product design firm Studio Gessaga.

The consistent use of neon green and the play with materiality and three-dimensionality reflect the office's innovative and independent design approach. In order to achieve a radically minimalist typography, all type elements were set in one font size and with just one font style.

SVP National Council Member Secures Release of Addresses for Election Campaigning

A victory for Thomas Aeschi, an SVP National Council member from Zug: Municipalities in his home canton will now be required to provide political parties with the addresses of young citizens and new residents. This was decided by the Zug Administrative Court.

The Administrative Court is of the opinion that election campaigning constitutes a «legitimate, non-material purpose.» The disclosure of the data is therefore proportionate, the court writes in its ruling, which was also reported by Blick online on Monday. The eleven municipalities in Zug are thus required to disclose the last name, first name, gender, year of birth, and current address of young citizens and new residents to political parties. The municipalities are not doing this voluntarily. They had previously opposed the release of the address lists on data protection grounds.

Election campaigning is not advertising

The legal proceedings were triggered by an advertising campaign launched by the SVP in the canton of Zug. Ahead of the 2015 federal elections, the party submitted requests to all municipalities asking them to provide data on «young people, newcomers, and the older, female generation.» However, with the exception of Oberägeri, no municipality was willing to hand over the information on its residents, prompting the SVP to appeal to the Zug Cantonal Government. The government, however, shared the municipalities’ view and turned down the SVP’s request. The cantonal SVP president, Thomas Aeschi, subsequently filed an appeal with the Administrative Court. He argued that political publications are not advertising in the strict sense of the term. The Administrative Court has now ruled in favor of this argument. (SDA)

Joiz launches comeback of TV legend Kurt Schaad

Joiz is launching a new show: On «Jung und Schaad,» Kurt Schaad and Joiz’s star host Gülsha Adilji discuss drug trips, development aid, and the refugee crisis.

Kurt Schaad, 65, is an SRF TV legend, a travel expert and - in Gülsha's words - the "cool uncle of Joiz. Gülsha Adilji, 30, is the cheeky face of Joiz and, as Kurt would say, "a do-gooder." When a do-gooder and an old-68er drink wine together at the same table and philosophize about God and the world, it provides fuel for the fire.

jungschaad-copy

In the new show "Jung und Schaad" two generations and thus two perspectives on life meet. Kurt Schaad returns to the screen after six years together with Gülsha Adilji. Why they are doing this together, they explain themselves in a message:

Kurt Schaad: "Gülsha and I like to discuss things with each other. At some point she said, 'We could do that even if a camera is running.' "Why not?" I said in response. Through Gülsha, I am confronted with the views of Generation Y as an AHV recipient. It's stimulating and challenging."

Gülsha Adilji: "Kurt and I were sitting together in a meeting and suddenly we had a heated discussion about the army. Then, by chance, the idea actually arose that you could also record that. I'm especially looking forward to the broadcast in which I said things like "Abolish democracy!" in a feverish frenzy.

Ten skills that CMOs absolutely must have

The Digital Marketer Census study, which surveyed 600 digital decision-makers in Europe, concludes that creativity is by far the most important quality of a Chief Marketing Officer (CMO).

The CMO's area of responsibility has changed in recent years. It has become more technical and data-driven. As complexity increases, so do the requirements. The most important skills that CMOs need to bring to the table include creativity, user centricity and a global perspective. This is one of the findings of the Digital Marketer Census 2016, for which Marin Software (NYSE: MRIN) surveyed 600 digital decision-makers in Germany, France and the UK. The following figures relate to the 200 German respondents.

Almost three quarters of German marketers confirm that their job has become more complicated (54%) or even much more complicated (19.5%). Only one in seven (14.5%) believe that their job has become easier. Only twelve percent currently perceive no change. In the previous year, however, 25 percent felt that hardly anything had changed in their area of responsibility. The demands placed on marketers have increased in recent months. According to the digital marketers surveyed, the biggest challenges include data management and data volumes as well as time pressure, the pace of innovation and budget restrictions.

The CMO skill profile is diverse

The return on investment rests on the shoulders of the CMO. They are expected to lay the foundation for decisions, such as how the budget is allocated, and must prove the effectiveness of the measures. But they are also expected to come up with creative ideas that stand out from the crowd. According to the digital marketers surveyed, creativity (52.5 percent) is by far the most important skill for a CMO to do their job successfully. In second place comes user-centered action (32.5 percent). However, a global perspective (29 percent) is also expected. This characteristic comes in third place.

The ten most important knowledge and skills for CMOs

- Creativity (52.5 percent)
- User centricity (32.5 percent)
- Global view (29 percent)
- Growth orientation (28 percent)
- Financial know-how (26.5 percent)
- All-rounder (26 percent)
- Professional expertise (19.5 percent)
- Storyteller (17.5 percent)
- Design focus (15.5 percent)
- Data orientation (15 percent)

The digital skills of a CMO are also important when recruiting new marketing employees. Nine out of ten marketing managers say that when they change jobs, it plays an important role for them whether the company's CMO is a digital leader. They expect a leader who is aware of today's online business requirements and acts accordingly.

Bert Bröske, Marketing Director EMEA, Marin Software, says: "Marketing as we know it today is constantly evolving and has long since expanded into new digital environments. Marketing is now about both creative and analytical skills. In order to optimally adapt to the new requirements, it is up to companies to purchase the appropriate skills where necessary."

The Digital Marketer Census was carried out in parallel in Germany, France and the UK at the end of 2015. A total of 600 digital decision-makers, including 200 Germans, were surveyed. In addition to the priorities for 2016, the survey also focused on the topics of offline vs. online and cross-channel marketing. The whitepaper can be here can be downloaded.

Last but not least: On the run

It could be here, too. The London-based agency Don't Panic is continuing its award-winning campaign featuring the girl who finds herself caught up in the turmoil of the English war.

In the spring of 2014, the aim was to remind people that there has been war in Syria for three years. And many people need help. At the time, the issue was more or less non-existent on the Western agenda - it was only the flood of refugees and reports of IS atrocities that shook people awake. That in the "Last but not least" March 6, 2014 The viral video presented here has been viewed more than 53 million times on YouTube to date and - in addition to numerous awards - has also won gold in Cannes.

Now the agency doubles Don't Panic after. Once again with the stunning stylistic device of the "Second-a-Day" video. The girl with whom you experienced the outbreak of war in England in the first video is two years older, but the situation has not improved. The escape by rubber dinghy across the Channel to France is dramatic and depressing. And in the end, we are left with the realization that what seems absurd is actually not absurd at all - but reality not far from here. Or loosely based on Walker: "It's not happening here, but it's happening now." (hae)
