Epica: Gold for Leo Burnett and Ruf Lanz
The winners of the 2014 Epica Awards have been announced since Monday. Leo Burnett Switzerland and Ruf Lanz took home gold. FCB Zurich won silver.

163 submissions from 11 agencies in Switzerland competed against 3422 worldwide submissions from 585 international agencies. And "once again we have some very nice work from Switzerland", as Mark Tungate, Editorial Director Epica, was able to confirm to Werbewoche after the first of three days of viewing this work. Around 25 editors from over 40 trade journals from all over the world rate the submissions with marks between 1 and 10. After the introductory explanations of the respective case, the works and usually a case movie are projected. The jury members then have five seconds to form their opinion on their voting console. This is a fair system, as in reality the advertising subjects are hardly given more time to win over the target audience. Nevertheless, at this award meeting at the Radisson Blue in Amsterdam, there is of course enough room to bring any overlooked ideas back into play before the plenary session in a "wildcard" discussion. However, this has not yet been necessary for the Swiss gold winners.
In the "Consumer Direct" category, the Zurich agency Leo Burnett Switzerland wins gold with the cow marathon for Bio Suisse (Werbewoche.ch reported). A total of ten cows from different regions of Switzerland took part without having to leave their own organic farm. Equipped with GPS transmitters, the cows grazed on their pastures while the distances they covered were measured. The first cow to reach the marathon distance of 42.195 kilometers was the winner. The first cow marathon winner is called Maureen. The four-year-old organic cow of the Jersey breed was in the race for ten days and was the first to cover the marathon distance of 42.195 kilometers.
The second Swiss Gold on Monday goes to Ruf Lanz for the Swiss Milk campaign "Swiss Milk Cable Car Stations" (Werbewoche.ch reported) in the "Drinks" category. Each poster was individually tailored to its surroundings, giving the impression that Lovely was pulling the entire cable car.

FCB Zurich secured the third precious metal on Monday with the "Emography Project" for MTV Mobile/Sunrise. This is an app that converts emotions directly into certain typographies. For example, if you are angry, you can write with a stinky finger. Or if you are sad, the typography consists of tears. A font was developed for each of the eight basic human emotions. The result is a completely new messaging service for MTV Mobile's young target group.

The Epica Awards are one of the most important creative competitions in the advertising industry. The winners will be announced from November 17 to 19, with the awards ceremony taking place on Thursday, November 20. Werbewoche will be on site and will report on the competition on an ongoing basis.
