Dispensing with the post office

Distribution K-Group helps in the search for alternatives Parallel to the newspaper publishers' initiative to subsidize press distribution with federal funds, an internal association working group is working on a concept for a cheaper alternative to the post office. "By the end of the year, we should have a relatively good idea," says the new publisher president Hanspeter Lebrument, who heads the association's distribution department. He confirms for the first time that the K-Group is also involved in the project alongside publishers and early delivery companies. The latter has not yet wanted to confirm its involvement or report on a home delivery trial in the Zurich Oberland. However, this experience will be incorporated into the project. Lebrument emphasizes that it is still unclear whether Swiss Post will be dispensed with in future or whether it will continue to be used for distribution in remote locations, for example. "What is certain, however, is that there will be an alternative to the current system." (mk)
