Local Press: The Zuger Presse has to tighten its belt (even) further.
Local press The Zuger Presse has to tighten its belt (even more) Werbewoche has learned from well-informed sources that the main shareholder of the Zuger Presse, Landis&Gyr heir Daniel Brunner, wants to at least halve its annual deficit guarantee of four million francs in 2005. The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the ambitious local newspaper, Adrian Bauder, is "not aware" of this when asked. However, he admits that cost-cutting is currently the top priority in Zug, and in addition to not replacing six so-called "natural departures" in editorial and production, this also means a "careful evaluation of rental and operating costs". According to reports, this involves a possible move to the countryside and a switch to a cheaper and more functional editorial system. On the other hand, the publication frequency of the Zuger Presse, which was increased from twice to three times a week last May, is "definitely not up for discussion", says Bauder.
