Interpharma's "Medicine" Campaign: Making Research Visible in Everyday Life

What else are research-based pharmaceutical companies in Switzerland driving besides new drugs, therapies, and medical innovations? The answer, as Interpharma highlights in its new campaign «Medicine Moves Our Lives,» is: far more than many people realize. The campaign aims to highlight the contribution of medical research to healthcare, social progress, and Switzerland as a business hub. It was developed and implemented by the agency andfrank, which secured the mandate as Interpharma’s communications partner in a multi-stage pitch.

The focus is on genuine human moments—situations in which medical progress isn’t just an abstract concept, but something that can be felt firsthand. The campaign uses evocative imagery, calm video sequences, and powerful messages that show how closely medical innovation is linked to quality of life, hope, and prospects for the future.

Georg Därendinger, Head of Communications and a member of the Executive Board at Interpharma, sums up the approach: «The campaign highlights the value of medical innovation, both from the patients» perspective and in terms of investment and jobs. In this way, the campaign brings together two perspectives: the benefits for the individual and the value for society.”

A Focus on Social Tensions

The campaign also deliberately addresses social issues such as healthcare costs, access to innovative therapies, and the importance of Switzerland as a center for research. Statements such as «People often discuss how much medications cost. But rarely about what they do.» or «A strong healthcare system doesn’t start in the hospital. It starts in the lab.» are intended to spark reflection and broaden the public’s perspective on the role of medical research.

At the same time, the campaign highlights that the research-based pharmaceutical industry not only enables medical progress but is also one of Switzerland’s most important drivers of innovation and economic growth. According to the press release, the industry directly and indirectly supports several hundred thousand jobs and plays a decisive role in shaping Switzerland as a center for research and business.

Interpharma Medicine Campaign: Nationwide Rollout

The campaign will be rolled out nationwide via digital channels, social media, video formats, and a large-scale out-of-home campaign focused on urban centers and high-traffic pedestrian areas. The communication efforts will be complemented by the platform medizin-bewegt.ch with additional background information, facts, and personal stories, as well as through a nationwide campaign involving employees in the pharmaceutical industry.
