CRK stages reopening of Theater Winterthur
Following extensive renovations, Switzerland’s largest touring theater is making a comeback with a campaign designed by CRK. The multimedia production led the audience down a red carpet into the newly renovated venue.
Under the motto "Like the Winterthur Theater. Only new.", the agency developed a multimedia presence that showcased the return of the Kulturhaus. The campaign included social media measures, direct mailings, posters, ePanels and banners in highly frequented pedestrian zones.
A special eye-catcher of the campaign were green theater chairs, which were placed at central locations in Winterthur's old town two weeks before the opening. Passers-by could take a seat there and find out about the new season program. The highlight was a red carpet that stretched from the train station to the theater and welcomed all visitors like VIPs.
"The campaigns in the city were a unique opportunity for us to draw attention to ourselves and the festive return. We received a lot of positive reactions," says Bettina Durrer, General Manager of Theater Winterthur.
The renovated building now boasts excellent technical facilities, is almost completely barrier-free and has become more sustainable. The new 2025/26 theater season starts this week with the dance evening "Notte Morricone" by Aterballetto, staged by Spanish star choreographer Marcos Morau and accompanied live by the Musikkollegium Winterthur.
