Contcept organizes PR campaign against PET for SodaStream at Oerlikon train station
Each year, more than 45,000,000 kilograms of PET are put into circulation in Switzerland—including approximately 1.3 billion beverage bottles, which end up in the trash or the recycling bin after a single use. Contcept, on behalf of Sodastream, drew attention to this high level of plastic consumption.

On Tuesday, Contcept Communication presented the cage filled with around 12,000 PET bottles under the motto #saynotoplastic to the Swiss for the first time for SodaStream in Oerlikon. "The Cage" will remain in Oerlikon until Wednesday evening.
The launch of "The Cage" was accompanied by a performance by the three young artists Maja Walter, Larissa Puma and Benjamin Schwander. The graduates of Bern University of the Arts (HKB) invited passers-by to literally attach their PET bottles to them. As the day progressed, the hours turned more and more into piles of PET, symbolically carrying the waste that otherwise pollutes the environment, humanity and everyone's future.
The PR campaign against PET was broadcast throughout Monday via livestream on Facebook.

1.3 billion PET bottles per year
PET consumption in Switzerland has increased fivefold since the mid-1990s. Today, 1.3 billion PET bottles are put into circulation in Switzerland every year Sodastream Switzerland Managing Director Thomas Cantaro: "The recycling rate has also increased in recent years - but the much better approach is not to put PET into circulation at all. In other words, to focus on pre-cycling instead of re-cycling, because only one in four PET bottles becomes a PET bottle again through recycling. The rest is processed into other plastic products or sent to the cement factory or waste disposal plant and incinerated. A waste of raw materials. So if you make your own fresh water at home, you produce around 80 percent fewer greenhouse gases than if you buy water in PET bottles. And the unnecessary consumption of disposable PET bottles is eliminated."
