Change in the NZZ management
Roman Bretschger becomes new Secretary General and Johannes Boege Deputy CEO at NZZ. Hanspeter Kellermüller becomes CEO at Keystone-SDA.
Roman Bretschger, currently General Counsel ad interim and Company Secretary at sporting goods manufacturer On, will become Secretary General of NZZ and a member of the Executive Board as of August 1, 2023. He will thus take over from Hanspeter Kellermüller, who is moving to Keystone-SDA as CEO. In addition, Johannes Boege, Chief Commercial Officer and member of the Executive Board of NZZ, will be appointed Deputy CEO.
In his new role, Roman Bretschger will head the General Secretariat, the Legal Department and Public Affairs and, as Secretary to the Board of Directors, act as a liaison between the Board of Directors and the Executive Board. He will also be responsible for dialog with political decision-makers and communication with shareholders.
Not quite a new face at the NZZ
Roman Bretschger currently heads the legal department of sporting goods manufacturer On and acts as Secretary to the Board of Directors at Group level. From 2014 to June 2020, he was already employed by the company NZZ, most recently as Head of Legal Services.
Johannes Boege, Chief Commercial Officer and member of the NZZ Executive Board, takes over as deputy to CEO Felix Graf. Johannes Boege has been responsible for the revenue side since 2019 and additionally for the company's products since March 2022. Before starting at NZZ, he held management positions responsible for building and developing subscription businesses, most recently as Chief Product Officer at Politico.
As of August 1, 2023, the Executive Board of NZZ will consist of Felix Graf (CEO), Johannes Boege (Deputy CEO and Chief Commercial Officer), Jörg Schnyder (CFO), Eric Gujer (Editor-in-Chief of "Neue Zürcher Zeitung"), Jonas Projer (Editor-in-Chief of "NZZ am Sonntag"), Andreas Bossecker (Head of Technology), Nicole Rütsche (Head of HR) and Roman Bretschger (Secretary General).
