Thomas Hodel is the new head of the Institute for Multimedia Production at HTW Chur

Thomas Hodel has been head of the Institute for Multimedia Production (IMP) since October 1, 2017. Hodel thus assumes responsibility for teaching, continuing education, applied research and service at the University of Applied Sciences from Graubünden.

Until his retirement in two years, the current director of the institute, Ruedi Müller, will focus primarily on the management of the Joint Bachelor with the Bern University of Applied Sciences in Multimedia Production and its further development.

With Thomas Hodel, an experienced leader who already knows Multimedia Production very well is taking over the overall responsibility of the institute, according to the press release. He was one of the initiators of the bachelor's degree program of the same name, which is unique in Switzerland, being offered at the Bern location in cooperation with the Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH). As the previous head of department at the BFH, the Multimedia Production bachelor's degree program was directly subordinate to him. In addition, as a member of the steering committee, he played a decisive role in the further development of the Joint Bachelor.

Thomas Hodel holds a degree in theology and business informatics as well as a doctorate in computer science. He worked in the IT industry for several years, including as Head of Application Architecture or Head of Research and Development. Due to his activities at ETH Zurich, University of Zurich, Free University of Bolzano and BFH, he has an excellent knowledge of the Swiss educational landscape. With the assumption of the institute management at the HTW Chur he strengthens the technological know-how of Multimedia Production.
