SRF Head of Communications Andrea Hemmi leaves
After twelve years, Andrea Hemmi has decided to relinquish her position as a member of the Executive Board and Head of Communications as part of a reorganization. She will leave SRF at the end of December 2022 and in the future will again devote herself to various industries, projects and mandates with a consulting company.
Andrea Hemmi joined Schweizer Radio DRS and Schweizer Fernsehen in 2009 as an external consultant and provided communications support for the merger of the two companies. Since the end of 2010, she has headed SRF's communications and is a member of the Executive Board. She is responsible for all communication activities towards employees, media and the public. In the past twelve years, she and her teams have digitized SRF's communications tools, launched the "Hallo SRF!" dialog program prior to the "No Billag" vote, and made a significant contribution to transparency and exchange with the public.
As of January 1, 2023, the communications department will be transformed into a staff division of the directorate. Therefore, Andrea Hemmi has decided to leave SRF at the end of the year and found a new consulting company.
Before joining SRF, Andrea Hemmi was self-employed for three years with a communications agency. From 2003 to 2008, she was head of communications at Kuoni, where she built up group-wide crisis communications following the tsunami disaster. Before that, she was head of communications at McDonald's Switzerland, media spokesperson for the private TV station TV3 and personal assistant to Stéphanie Mörikofer, member of the Aargau FDP government.
"Andrea Hemmi has led and developed the company's communications with foresight and a sure instinct," said SRF Director Nathalie Wappler. "Her high resilience even in difficult communication situations has always impressed me. SRF owes her a great deal for her many years of spirited service."
On an interim basis, Andrea Wenger, Head of Media Relations, and Raphael Amrein, Head of Audience Dialogue, will take over the joint co-leadership of SRF's communications with immediate effect.
