Raphaela Birrer becomes a member of the Tamedia Editorial Board
Domestic Editor-in-Chief Raphaela Birrer will become a member of Tamedia's editorial team in German-speaking Switzerland on February 1, 2022. She replaces Armin Müller, who wants to devote himself more to research and writing again and is therefore moving to the business department of the Tamedia editorial office in the role of Chief Economist.
In addition to her new role, Raphaela Birrer will continue to head the domestic section of the Tamedia editorial team. Until mid-2019, Birrer was domestic editor at the Tages-Anzeiger, before that federal parliamentary correspondent and editor at Tagesanzeiger.ch/newsnet.
Before Birrer joined Tamedia in 2012, she worked at the Schaffhausen News, the NZZ, the Thurgau Newspaper as well as the Appenzeller newspaper. She studied journalism, political science and history at the University of Zurich. She is also a trained teacher.
"With her journalistic flair, her digital background and a modern management style, Raphaela Birrer has steered Inlandressort safely into the mobile age," said Arthur Rutishauser, Editor-in-Chief Tamedia and SonntagsZeitung. "She will be a perfect addition to the Editor-in-Chief team with her expertise. At the same time, I am delighted that Armin Müller will be our Chief Economist and that with him we have found the ideal successor to Markus Diem Meier."
The editorial team of the Tamedia editorial office will be composed as follows in the future: Arthur Rutishauser (Editor-in-Chief), Adrian Zurbriggen (Deputy Editor-in-Chief), Michael Marti, Iwan Städler, Raphaela Birrer and Kerstin Hasse (from spring 2022).
