Pascal Crittin succeeds Gilles Marchand at the helm of RTS
The SRG SSR Board of Directors has approved the proposal of the RTSR Regional Board and appointed Pascal Crittin as Director of RTS. He will take up this position on May 1, 2017.
The Regional Board of RTSR, chaired by Jean-François Roth, examined around 20 candidates and invited six internal and external candidates to interviews. The Regional Executive Board then spoke to the SRG Board of Directors in favor of appointing Pascal Crittin as Director of RTS.
The 48-year-old Crittin has held management responsibility at RTS for 15 years. He was initially Director of Espace 2, then Secretary General of RSR. Pascal Crittin has now been in charge of the "Affaires Générales" department at RTS for seven years. This department comprises the General Secretariat, Corporate Planning, Internal Policy and Legal Services functions. Pascal Crittin is also in charge of the project to relocate RTS to the EPFL campus.
As Jean-François Roth emphasized in his introduction of the candidate, Pascal Crittin is a personality with excellent knowledge of the media landscape in French-speaking Switzerland and radio experience. He is also familiar with the challenges facing television and digital platforms. Pascal Crittin also has strong social and leadership skills. He has repeatedly demonstrated his sense of balance between strategic analysis and operational commitment.
He also knows the company inside out and can therefore take up his position without a long induction period. At a time when the public audiovisual service in Switzerland is at the center of a fierce political debate, this is a further advantage.
Pascal Crittin works as a pianist, organist and choirmaster. He grew up in Saint-Maurice (VS) and graduated from the local schools with a Matura type A (Latin/Greek). He obtained a Master's degree in musicology and classical philology at the University of Fribourg before joining Editions Saint-Augustin in Saint-Maurice, where he quickly rose to the position of publishing director.
On May 1, 2017, Pascal Crittin will take over from Gilles Marchand, who in turn will become Director General of SRG on October 1, 2017.
