OBI appoints Lena Steiner as new Country Manager for Switzerland
OBI’s growth ambitions in Switzerland are a key component of its future strategy. Effective October 1, Lena Steiner will take over as head of the Swiss national organization and will drive the strategic expansion forward.

Switzerland is a key market for OBI and a strong driver for the strategic path to becoming the number one in Europe. On October 1, Lena Steiner will take over the management of the Swiss national organization. She reports to Mike Sgundek, Managing Director OBI Austria and Switzerland.
Lena Steiner was born in Switzerland and has extensive experience in transformation processes, digital innovation and organizational development. In her last role as CEO, the 39-year-old led Saviva through a major transformation with over 500 employees. During this time, she led the implementation of an award-winning digital marketplace and the redesign of logistics processes, among other things. Prior to this, she gained experience in various roles at Migros.
"OBI has enormous potential in Switzerland. My goal is to anchor a corporate culture that combines performance and passion and thus creates the basis for consistently implementing our Switzerland strategy," says Lena Steiner.
Jochen Ludwig, Chief Commercial Officer of the OBI Group, adds: "Lena Steiner has extensive experience and expertise in transformational processes and knows the Swiss market inside out. We are therefore convinced that she will provide OBI with excellent support in implementing the retail strategy in Switzerland."
Expansion in the Swiss market
With the takeover of the ten OBI stores previously managed by Migros on April 1, 2025, the OBI Group will manage its business in Switzerland entirely independently. The location in Agno, which opened in May, will be followed by the MParc La Praille locations in Carouge and Porte de Nyon in September and Länderpark in Stans and Zugerland in Steinhausen in October. As a result of the takeovers and the new openings, OBI Switzerland will employ a total of 756 people.
