NZZ am Sonntag: Guido Schätti becomes new head of economics
Deputy Blick Editor-in-Chief Guido Schätti will take over as Head of the Business Department at NZZ am Sonntag on April 1, 2022. Markus Städeli, who has held this position on an interim basis since the beginning of the year, will be appointed Deputy Head of the Business Department.
"Guido Schätti is not only an excellent business journalist with a committed, pointed voice, but also a strong leader and team player. He therefore has the ideal qualifications to further develop the business department in terms of content and personnel and to consolidate the leadership in the relevant dossiers," says Jonas Projer, Editor-in-Chief of the NZZ on Sunday, quoted in a statement. "Moreover, as an experienced page-turner, he will help lead the Sunday title into the next digital phase. I am very pleased that we were able to win Guido for this position."
Schätti studied sociology, political science and economic history at the University of Zurich and graduated with a licentiate. After two years as an assistant at the Institute of Sociology at the University of Zurich, Schätti switched to journalism and worked, among others, for the news agency AP, the business newspaper Cash Daily and the SonntagsBlick active. From 2011, Schätti served as deputy head of the economics section at the Sunday newspaperbefore returning to Ringier as Head of Business at the Blick Group. In the past four years, he served as deputy editor-in-chief and as a print and digital editor.
Schätti will take over as Head of the Economy Department from Markus Städeli, who has held this position on an interim basis since January 2021 and will become Deputy Head of the Economy Department from April 1, 2022.
