Change of management in the culture department of NZZ am Sonntag and at NZZ Geschichte
Peer Teuwsen, editorial director of NZZ Geschichte since 2014, will become head of the culture section at NZZ am Sonntag. From August, he will succeed Christian Jungen, who moved to the Zurich Film Festival in May and will take over the artistic direction of the festival with the 2020 edition. The current editor in charge, Lea Haller, will become the new editorial director of NZZ Geschichte on August 1, 2019.

Peer Teuwsen is an award-winning journalist and has headed the editorial team of NZZ History. Before that, he was founder and director of the Swiss edition of the German weekly newspaper The time as well as head of department and co-founder of the Hamburg section of "Die Zeit". Peer Teuwsen studied German, philosophy and economic history in Berlin and Zurich before graduating from the Ringier School of Journalism. In 1995, he joined the editorial team of the Tages-Anzeiger and worked as an editorial assistant for The magazine. From 2001 to 2006 he was deputy editor-in-chief of "Das Magazin", then head of the culture and science department at The Weltwoche.

Lea Haller studied social and economic history, ethnology and German linguistics in Zurich and Hamburg. She received her doctorate from ETH Zurich in 2011. From 2012 to 2017, she was a Branco Weiss Fellow and postdoc at Sciences Po Paris, Harvard University and the University of Geneva. Her second book has just been published by Suhrkamp: Transithandel. Money and commodity flows in global capitalism. In addition to her academic work, she has worked as a freelance journalist for the New Zurich Newspaper. From 2015, she was a member of the scientific advisory board of NZZ History; she has been the editor responsible for the magazine since 2018.
Luzi Bernet, Editor-in-Chief of the NZZ on Sunday: "We attach great importance to high-profile cultural reporting. Peer Teuwsen, with his extensive experience, including at NZZ History, at the Magazine and the Timehis international network and his expertise in presenting live formats, he is the ideal candidate for the position of Head of Culture. In Lea Haller, we have found an excellent successor for the editorial management of NZZ History found. As a historian, she has extensive knowledge of history and is very well connected in the academic world. I am convinced that she will continue to drive the magazine's success forward. I wish both Lea Haller and Peer Teuwsen much joy and success in their new role."
