The digital agency Festland is expanding its expertise in AI development: Since early May, Nando Bosshart, a web developer and AI specialist, has joined the team—now as a full-time employee after years of working as a freelancer.
Mainland AI Development Gets a New Boost
Since early May, the Festland team has been operating with an expanded lineup. Nando Bosshart, a web developer and AI specialist, is strengthening the agency’s in-house expertise in the creation of AI applications and AI-based programming. This move follows years of collaboration: Bosshart had already been working for Festland as a freelancer on a retainer basis and, by his own account, has helped shape the agency’s web and AI expertise for years.
The digitization of user journeys and the use of AI models are becoming increasingly important in brand management. Benedikt Skalsky, partner and head of innovation at Festland, sees the new hire as a perfect fit: «As a freelancer with a standing contract, Nando has helped shape our web and AI expertise for years. We have now made this collaboration a permanent part of our team.»
Nando Bosshart himself also describes this commitment as a labor of love: «Many projects have clearly shown that we’re on the same page, both professionally and personally.» In addition to customer solutions, the company’s goals include the development of Festland products and the establishment of best practices for LLM platforms, prompt engineering, and agentic coding.
Web Pioneer with a Focus on AI
Like Festland, Nando Bosshart has been following the evolution of digital media since the pioneering days of the World Wide Web. He has many years of experience as a startup entrepreneur and as a lead developer at an agency. For some time now, his focus has been on AI technologies. Back in the 1990s, he developed the first live score app for hockey clubs—using WAP technology at the time.
Not a cultural shift, but continuity
Bosshart doesn’t see the transition from freelancer to full-time employee as a break: «Not at all, because I already have plenty of experience on the agency side. For me, teamwork has always been the be-all and end-all. Plus, the entrepreneurial spirit at Festland is extremely strong.» At the same time, he intends to deliberately maintain room for his own projects and his existing work as an independent consultant.
Bosshart is clear about Festland’s level of AI maturity: «We’re very well-equipped! We use technology wherever it lightens our workload, and we even develop our own applications for that purpose. But no matter how much innovation there is, the best creations remain human, which is why we make a conscious effort to maintain a balance with genuine human input.»
