Preparations for the Eurovision Song Contest in Switzerland have been in full swing at SRG since Nemo's victory in Malmö on May 11. The necessary communication work has so far been carried out by SRG's media office under the direction of Edi Estermann.

As the project progresses, the largest music event in the world will require more and more communication work and a dedicated team. Edi Estermann has therefore decided, in consultation with SRG Director General Gilles Marchand and the designated Director General Susanne Wille, to focus entirely on communications for the ESC from November 1, 2024 and to take over the management of the ESC communications team as Head of Communication. The collaboration between the two teams will be very close.

"A stroke of luck for the ESC"

Estermann is thus handing over the management of the SRG media office after seven years of service to SRG Director General Gilles Marchand at the same time as the latter's departure. Gilles Marchand comments: "The organization of the ESC in Switzerland is an enormous challenge for SRG, in which communication will play a key role. The fact that Edi Estermann will be 100 percent committed to the project is a stroke of luck for the ESC. I would like to thank him warmly for his professionalism, his availability and the great trust that has characterized our seven years of close personal collaboration."

Edi Estermann: "The ESC is a demanding, international project with great charisma and represents an immense challenge in terms of communication, which I am happy to accept. Together with my team, I will do everything I can to make the ESC a success for SRG from a communications perspective and I am very much looking forward to this intense adventure."

The designated Director General Susanne Wille is reorganizing SRG's communications. The newly created position of Head of Strategic Corporate Communications will be advertised. Until then, all media inquiries will continue to be handled directly by SRG's media office.
