David Smadja moves up to CMO at McDonald's Switzerland

Jean-Guillaume Bertola, Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of McDonald’s Switzerland, was appointed Marketing Director of McDonald’s France effective mid-October. He is handing over his duties to David Smadja, who has been part of the team as Digital Marketing Lead since 2018.

David Smadja will be the new CMO at McDonald's Switzerland, taking over from Jean-Guillaume Bertola, who will become Marketing Director at McDonald's France. This puts Smadja in charge of the 14-strong Consumer & Business Insights, Food, Customer Engagement and Digital teams, reporting directly to Managing Director Lara Skripitsky.

David Smadja has been part of the team for some time and has spent the last five years at McDonald's Switzerland designing and implementing a holistic digital strategy, the company says. These have contributed significantly to the growth of the foodservice company and positioned Switzerland as a digital best practice in the McDonald's system, it adds. Smadja was also an active driver of the launch of the McDelivery service.

David Smadja combines around 15 years of marketing and digital experience in the FMCG industry as well as on the agency side - both on a national and international level. He holds a master's degree in political science from the University of Lausanne and a DAS in marketing, communication and e-business strategies from the Geneva School of Economics and Management. In 2021, he was awarded the Special Equity Award and in 2022 the President's Award, which recognizes the outstanding achievements of the top 1 percent of McDonald's employees worldwide.
