The organic swimming pond in Flims Waldhaus Many specialist magazines and internet portals praise the best wellness hotels in the mountains. Annual awards are presented and motivating guarantees are added: "physical & mental return-on-investment guaranteed". Alpine destinations celebrate this segment and the best are celebrated every year. In 2015, for example, the "Miramonti" in Merano in South Tyrol or the "Aqua Dome Längenfeld" in Ötztal, Austria. In Bavaria, the small "Englische Schloss" in Kranzbach was honored, as was the "Nira Alpina" in Silvaplana in the Engadine, and Switzerland Tourism also has a list of the 20 best wellness hotels, with the Grand Resort Bad Ragaz currently in first place.
The sauna at the Hotel Adula, Flims.In the health stampGraubünden offers a whole range of exquisite resorts, and not just in the "big" hubs such as Davos or St. Moritz. Flims, for example, which is well established in the national conference market, has also been in the wellness business since the century before last. In 1873, Friedrich Nietzsche spent a whole month in the village and expressed his enthusiasm for the whey cures and the baths in Lake Cauma; the Hotel Waldhaus opened shortly afterwards (1877) and has developed into a veritable health temple to this day. Extensive renovation work is currently underway and Marion Minarik, Head of Marketing, is already looking forward to the reopening this December - with a spa area of 2700 m². In the open air, guests can enjoy a 142 m² adventure pool with bubble loungers and massage jets as well as an organic swimming pond (photo). This is a natural pool whose water is treated without chlorine, chemicals or UV radiation. In addition, the Waldhaus offers all kinds of treatments, be it cosmetics, massages, aroma and hamam steam baths or fitness in general (for example water gymnastics).
The hay beds at the Maiensässhotel Guarda Val.Spa meets culinary delightsOlaf Reinhardt, who runs the Hotel Adula in Flims, also works in the health segment. Two factors are relevant for him, including for his MICE customers: "On the one hand, we ensure that the culinary delights are of the highest and healthiest standard. In addition, as we are located right on the edge of the forest, spending time in the forest and at our mountain lakes is part of the wellness offer." The "Adula" also thinks about external day visitors and offers them a so-called wellness day. The flat rate of CHF 290 includes a certain number of services as well as the use of the equipment park, indoor pool, brine pool, herbal sauna, ruby steam bath, Bündner Schwitzstube and experience showers. There are also bath towels, bathrobes and slippers as well as sufficient food - a suitable offer for company employees too. Incidentally, up to 80% of all guests at the Waldhaus and Adula hotels in Flims come from Switzerland; and both hotels also work well with the British market.
The spa area at the Hotel Frutt Lodge & Spa covers 900 m²."Big enough for luxury and small enough for individuality"The Hotel Guarda Val above Lenzerheide works almost exclusively with Swiss visitors. However, due to the increasing demand for group seminars, foreign visitors are also becoming more and more interested. Situated at 1600 meters above sea level, the "Guarda Val" is a unique Maiensässhotel, which is spread across huts and stables that are up to 300 years old. Operations assistant Nadine Becker says: "It is important to us that all treatments are individually tailored to our guests. This gives them treatment processes like nowhere else."

The small village on the shores of Lake Melchsee has numerous fireplaces and easy walking trails, making it ideal for company outings. The Frutt Lodge & Spa, Europe's highest four-star superior hotel according to its own advertising, is also located here. Successful in the seminar business and committed in the wellness area, where the vitalizing power of Grander water is used. The 900 m² wellness area offers highlights such as a glacier crevasse and the panorama sauna.View the mountains from the poolThe last visit is even further west, past the 5* wellness temple Grand Hotel Victoria-Jungfrau; this hotel is also on Switzerland Tourism's top 20 wellness list. But the destination is not Aspen Colorado, but Aspen Grindelwald, or rather the Aspen Alpin Lifestyle Hotel there. Manuela Fischer talks about her Swiss chalet hotel, with 35 rooms and located directly on the hiking trails and ski slopes. "Our unique selling point is actually the outdoor whirlpool, in winter directly on the ski slope, with the best view of the world-famous north face of the Eiger. "The "Aspen" offers a "small but fine" sauna and wellness area; with herbal bath, foot massage pool, ice fountain, experience showers and a treatment room for massages, facials, pedicures and manicures. Certainly a complementary offer during a management retreat, whereby you can perhaps only use the tea and vitamin bar during the day, but in the evening you can also enjoy stronger drinks.
