"Creative professionals should actively shape change"

As a consultant with many years of experience in the industry, Eva Pauline Bossow is committed to encouraging creative professionals to engage deeply with AI and its implications—and to speak out directly on the subject. By moderating the CLTR 2024 public event, she hopes to help spark this conversation.

Provides AI for art and cultureffend a threat or is it rather perceived as an opportunity?

Eva Pauline Bossow: Both depend on various factors - for example, the artistic discipline. A game designer is more likely to use AI applications and see them as an opportunity than a violinist. You could say that the more analog an artistic practice is, the greater the leap.

Are you arguing that this does not have to remain the case?

That's right. Many musicians have been working with AI tools in production, marketing and composition for a long time - different applications are used at different stages of the value chain. Whether this happens also depends on their own access to and understanding of the technologies.

Why do you think it is important that we as a society talk about how to deal with AI and the platform economy?

Because both are already having a profound impact on our everyday (working) lives and have far-reaching effects on the economy, labor market, democracy and culture. Most of us are not even aware of the extent of this. However, the first step in discussing AI and the platform economy is knowledge.

And you want to share this knowledge at the of the public event CLTR 2024 offer?

Yes, because only when we understand what AI will mean in 2024, where it is already being used and what developments can be expected, can we discuss what is sensible, desirable and difficult in the second step - and take action.
