No surprise: Adunic integrated into Nüssli

It had been in the works for months, and now it’s official: Nüssli, the world-renowned company specializing in temporary scaffolding for the Olympic Games, world’s fairs, and hospitality events, has acquired Adunic.

Co-CEO Mark Breitenmoser (picture above): "With the merger of the two leading global companies in the premium segment for temporary structures, we have combined unique expertise under our company umbrella."

The reason for the reintegration of Adunic into Nüssli: Adunic was a spin-off of former Nüssli employees. The offer and the skills were identical, which meant that two companies took part in pitches instead of just Nüssli and undercut each other on price. From this point of view, too, the merger comes as no great surprise. Nüssli Adunic does not provide any information on the new ownership structure.

Nüssli is a world-famous brand; the famous lettering on scaffolding at Olympic Games, World Championships, pavilions, etc. is known all over the world. It is therefore logical that "NÜSSLI" is capitalized in the new brand name and Adunic is written in normal script. This means that the continuation Adunic will probably be abandoned at some point so that the traditional Nüssli brand takes center stage again. The former Nüssli CEO and later founder and CEO of Adunic, Andreas Böckli, has left the new company. Former Nüssli CEO Martin Messner also left Nüssli at the end of 2017.

History has taught us that the integration of different corporate cultures takes time and energy. The new group is no different, as we hear. Over the next few months, Nüssli Adunic will have to concentrate on itself in order to retain know-how within the company following departures and redundancies and to re-establish customer proximity.

This is good news for related sectors, such as trade fair construction companies, because Nüssli has hardly been able to gain a foothold in this area to date and will hardly be able to muster the strength to do so under the new conditions. In this context, it will be interesting to see what happens to the German company Ambrosius, which Nüssli took over a few years ago and which looked after the major customer Mercedes-Benz at the IAA in Frankfurt.

Nüssli Adunic has its new webpage Nussli-adunic.com launched.
