HotellerieSuisse Director Claude Meier gives up leadership
Claude Meier has been at the helm of HotellerieSuisse as Director since 2016. He has now decided to hand over the operational management of the association in the course of the coming year 2024 in order to further his professional development.
"I can look back on incredibly exciting years with HotellerieSuisse and am very proud of what we have initiated, developed and realized together during this time," Claude Meier was quoted as saying in a statement issued on Thursday.
The Lucerne native has been actively involved in the further development of the association in recent years and has guided the members through the pandemic together with the association and management, the statement continues.
The now 45-year-old wants to concentrate more on strategic tasks in the future - within and outside the accommodation and tourism industry. Thus, the retiring director was proposed on Wednesday by more than 80 hoteliers and hoteliers from all over Switzerland as president of HotellerieSuisse and thus as successor to Andreas Züllig, who will hand over his office at the end of 2023 after nine years.
The delegates will elect Andreas Züllig's successor on November 22, 2023, during the winter delegates' meeting. In addition to Claude Meier, the following candidates are standing for election: the current association management members Marie Forestier and Urs Bircher as co-presidents and the former president of HotellerieSuisse Zurich and Region, Martin von Moos.
According to the statement, recruitment for Claude Meier's successor as director of HotellerieSuisse will begin at the end of 2023.
