The most popular event cities of the Swiss

EVENTS Last year, the Swiss population was drawn to Barcelona. This year, event organizers are putting the Spree metropolis of Berlin at the top of the list.

Which destinations will be the trend for events in 2015? Which new destinations should we keep a special eye on and how big is the average group at events? What about the length of stay? These questions asked Pro Sky Switzerlandthe specialist for customized flying and event managers in agencies and companies. For the reporting, a total of 80 Swiss event professionals were available to answer questions.

The search for the exotic68 percent of respondents said that Europe will be particularly relevant for their projects in 2015. In the previous year, this was still 81 percent of respondents. The situation is quite different in the pan-European ranking, however: Here, the continent has significantly more advocates than in Switzerland. The Swiss are happy to go further afield, and exotic regions of the world are booming. The best example is the Middle East. From 8 percent in the previous year, it went up to 21 percent in 2015. Latin America is also becoming increasingly popular, reaching 19 percent.

Germany just ahead of SwitzerlandGermany remains the favorite of the Swiss in 2015. In 2014, 38 percent of event planners were still in favor of their northern neighbor; in 2015, the figure is 43 percent. Their own country also makes a leap forward: by 4 percent to 39 percent. Switzerland thus overtakes Spain.

Metropolitan comparison: Berling outperforms BarcelonaIn Germany, the capital is particularly popular for event managers. Berlin is top of the list with 53 percent. This means that the city on the River Spree has overtaken last year's winner Barcelona. Further afield in Europe, Turkey is fighting its way onto the list. Asked separately for the first time in 2015, Istanbul landed right away in the top field with 31 percent. The Scandinavian cities, on the other hand, slipped from their former high of 32 percent to 21 percent (Stockholm) and from 29 percent to 10 percent (Copenhagen). The secret star remains the British Isles with Dublin, Edinburgh and London.
