That was Fantasy Basel - The Swiss Comic Con 2024

Comics, cosplay and games are still in vogue: on its 10th anniversary, the Fantasy Basel - The Swiss Comic Con 2024 trade fair once again reported a record number of visitors.

Switzerland's largest pop culture festival reports a record number of visitors on its tenth anniversary: 88,000 visitors from all over Switzerland and neighboring countries came to the six halls of Fantasy Basel - The Swiss Comic Con.

One highlight was the exhibition with huge fan objects from the "Star Wars" universe. More than 220 Stormtroopers and rebels from all over Europe immersed visitors in a galactic setting. Right next door, visitors could learn a lot about real space travel at various stands and find out about the latest findings from scientists and professors. The Swiss Space Museum displayed a huge model of the James Webb Space Telescope and the latest images from the universe.

Large gaming hall

Gamers were able to enjoy exclusive presentations: publisher Bethesda also celebrated its 10th anniversary in the large gaming hall with the game "The Elder Scrolls Online". At the Nintendo stand, game publisher Niantic had its own character in the game Pikmin Bloom especially for the trade fair. Guests had to put up with longer waiting times for the Youtubers and streamers present, such as Gnu, Reved, iBlali and KingChris.

There was also the largest cosplay village in Europe, with many visitors coming in elaborately designed cosplay costumes and filling the exhibition halls with creativity.

Long queues of fans with autograph requests formed in front of the stands of world-famous comic artists and illustrators such as Frank Cho, Esad Ribić, Stanley Artgerm Lau, Laura Braga and Mike Perkins and the internationally successful Swiss comic artists Enrico Marini, Viktor Bogdanovic and Jared Muralt. Fantasy fans listened to talks by Lord of the Rings illustrator John Howe, readings by authors Kai Meyer, Bernhard Hennen and Carina Schnell and got autographs from the artists on trading cards from Magic: The Gathering and Disney Lorcana.
