Lake Zurich newspaper gives up outpost

The Zürichsee-Zeitung (ZSZ) is moving its three regional editorial offices together in Stäfa from September. The 15 affected editors in Horgen and Rapperswil-Jona will have to change their place of work. The reason for this is the planned expansion of the online presence.

A central newsroom is important for the expansion of ZSZ's online presence in the association of Zurich regional newspapers with Landbote and Zürcher Unterländer, Tamedia spokesman Michele Paparone told the SDA news agency on Thursday. He thus confirmed a report by the Neue Zürcher Zeitung. In this newsroom, the planning of print and online content is to take place together. "You can't do that at three locations," Paparone said. "The personnel and coordination effort would be too great." People would have to be close to each other.

The Tamedia spokesperson emphasized that this was a purely organizational measure. There is no savings target associated with it. Proximity to the affected areas would not be lost either. "The same employees will look after the same regions from Stäfa," said Paparone.

The changes will affect 15 editors. Due to adjustments in the area of secretarial services and coordination, two positions will be eliminated. There will still be one office each in Thalwil and Rapperswil as temporary workplaces. "On-site research or interviews can be done there," Paparone said. (SDA)
