CH Media newspapers and news portals reorganize sports editorial teams

The previous five sports departments are merging to form a "Sport CH Media" department, which is to create a user-oriented sports section for the portals and newspapers. The head is François Schmid-Bechtel.

The newspapers and news portals of CH Media are reorganizing their sports departments. The previous five sports departments are merging into a single department called "Sport CH Media," headed by François Schmid-Bechtel. In day-to-day business, the new organization was launched at the beginning of September.

The collaboration of the existing sports sections "Supraregional," "Ostschweiz," "Zentralschweiz," "Mittelland," and "Basel" should make it possible to create a powerful, user-oriented sports section for the portals and newspapers with a team of 25 editors in total. The reorganization is based on a data analysis that examined the usage behavior of users. This will strengthen coverage of the soccer clubs in the CH Media areas, for example, as well as of Swiss wrestling and skiing.

Continuity in regional sports reporting

Regional sports reporting will continue to be handled by regional managers within the new sports department. François Schmid-Bechtel, 51, has been sports editor at AZ-Medien and CH Media since 2007, becoming head of department in 2010. Previously, he was head of soccer at the View, he worked for Facts, the sports information Si and the football newspaper MatchMag.
