Yahoo fires group chief Carol Bartz
The board of directors of the Internet company Yahoo has fired CEO Carol Bartz. Chief Financial Officer Tim Morse has been named interim CEO, and the search for a permanent successor will begin immediately, the company announced on Tuesday.
As Reuters news agency learned from people familiar with the situation, Bartz wrote in a memo to employees that the chairman of the governing body dismissed them by phone.
Bartz took the helm at Yahoo in 2009. The cooperation with the Microsoft software group on Internet search took place during her time. Despite its strong partner, Yahoo is having a hard time holding its own against its larger competitor Google. Most recently, the important business with graphic advertisements weakened. (SDA)
