TV24 launches with live sports broadcasts

TV24 is expanding its programming lineup and will begin airing its first live sports broadcasts next week. On July 15, 2014, the Swiss TV station will broadcast live from the Top-Level Athletics Lucerne event as the national host broadcaster.

The event will be hosted by the accomplished sports presenter Janine Geigele. On August 9 and 10, 2014, TV24 will broadcast the international beach volleyball tournament "Beachmania" from Biel.

Top Athletics Lucerne is the third largest athletics meeting in Switzerland and takes place in the Allmend stadium in Lucerne. 200 Swiss athletes will take part. Another 150 athletes from about 40 countries are invited. They will compete in the shot put, javelin, hurdles, long jump, high jump and various running disciplines. Five-time long jump world champion and Olympic champion Brittney Reese (28, USA) leads the international field. The national figurehead will be pole vaulter Nicole Büchler (30), number nine in last year's European best list.

For the first time in a long time, a tournament of the CEV Beach Volleyball European Championship Series, the most highly endowed beach tour of the European Volleyball Federation CEV, will be held in Switzerland with the "Beachmania". A very strong starting field with the current European champions Herrera/Gavira (ESP) as the absolute top team is already emerging. In addition to the best teams from all over Europe, the Swiss beach volleyball elite will also be completely at the start in Biel.
