Nau media AG has been the main shareholder of Travelnews AG since mid-2024. The merger of two strong media brands with a clear focus on digital content, journalistic quality and consistent reader orientation has triggered a noticeable growth dynamic. Travelnews was able to significantly expand its reach in its anniversary year 2025: The number of visits rose to over 2.3 million, up around ten percent on the previous year. Page impressions rose to almost 3.6 million - an increase of twelve percent compared to 2024.

The number of newsletter subscribers (Best-of, Daily, Switzerland and Deluxe) leveled off at a total of 15,000 over the course of the year and recently showed an upward trend. The open rate remained exceptionally high at 47 to 61 percent.

Parallel to the growth on the website, Travelnews is also continuously gaining reach on social media channels. For example, the Instagram reel for the presentation of Edelweiss' first A350 achieved almost 76,000 views, while the TikTok clip for Swiss' new First and Business Class even recorded over 100,000 views.

Joint marketing, joint office

An important driver of this pleasing growth is the technological and journalistic strength of the Nau network, from which Travelnews benefits. "The synergies between Travelnews and Nau.ch have exceeded our expectations. Apart from the extraordinary coronavirus period with its enormous need for information, we are now reaching more readers than ever before - with relevant, up-to-date and inspiring travel-related content," says Reto Suter, Editor-in-Chief of Travelnews.

A look at the most-read articles shows a clear trend: Travelnews remains the central mouthpiece of the Swiss travel industry, but is also becoming significantly more important in the B2C sector. "More and more readers from outside the industry are coming to us for tips and inspiration for their travels," says Suter. Articles with a focus on Switzerland are also attracting increasing interest.

The collaboration is reflected not only in the growing reach, but also in the cross-media integration. Travelnews content is regularly published on Nau.ch and thus reaches an even wider audience. Conversely, Travelnews readers benefit from the topicality and appeal of the Nau.ch platform. The close exchange is also promoted by the fact that the Travelnews offices in Zurich are regularly used by members of the Nau.ch editorial team.

Yves Kilchenmann, CEO of Nau media AG, draws a positive balance: "The bundled offers are a win-win situation. The travel environment is very popular with both users and advertising partners. With Travelnews at our side, we have been able to substantially strengthen our portfolio in the travel and tourism sector. This makes us not only the largest travel news network in Switzerland, but also an indispensable partner for the travel industry."
