Sound picture shows at the Photo 15

Tagesanzeiger.ch/Newsnet looks back on a year with many multimedia highlights. The "Soundslides" audio-visual shows can now also be seen from Friday at the renowned "Photo 15" exhibition in Zurich.

Alongside big names such as James Nachtwey and Thomas Höpker, 150 photographers will be showing their favorite pictures from the past year from January 9 to 13. The Tagesanzeiger.ch/Newsnet innovation team will also be presenting a selection of photo reportages specially prepared for the Internet.

"Soundslides" is a multimedia format for photography stories that focuses on sound and images. Renowned photographers show their most impressive reportages and comment on them in their own words. It is not just the aesthetic quality of the images that counts, the story behind them is of central importance. Last year, the Innovation Digital team produced "Soundslides" in collaboration with photographers Helmut Wachter, Edgar Herbst and Kostas Maros. The new Audio-visual show "In Jesus' Name" was created with Christian Lutz especially for "Photo 15".

The digital "Soundslides" format, which is now being shown together with conventional photographic works, deliberately sets a counterpoint to the usual online genres. "We are creating a place of concentration on our websites," says Michael Marti, Head of Digital at the "Tages-Anzeiger" and Newsnet boss. "The 'soundslides' are a kind of peep box that allows users to immerse themselves in a story without being distracted or irritated."
