Tamedia refreshes the BZ Berner Zeitung news portal

Bernerzeitung.ch has been featuring a new design since Wednesday. The focus is on simplifying the structure and, as a result, improving the reader experience.

In addition to a clearly structured appearance with "Latest news" and "Most popular articles", users now have a new, attractive introduction to their daily reading. This also means that only six sections are now displayed in the header. Clicking on "more" opens up a clearly structured menu in which users can also directly access other subpages.

The "What you missed" format, which is popular in the apps, is now also being introduced on the desktop. Three reading recommendations are displayed based on the reader's interests.

The technological basis for the refresh is a new development of the platform within Tamedia. This now also corresponds to the one used for the mobile sites and enables rapid and user-oriented further development. The new platform also offers significantly faster loading times.

Marc Isler, Head of Digital Sales Development: "The basis for the new development was countless feedback from our users and an in-depth analysis of user behavior. Interdisciplinary collaboration between editorial, product management and engineering resulted in a completely new platform, which has been intensively tested with users in recent weeks."

After Bernerzeitung.ch, Tagesanzeiger.ch will also switch to the new design in November 2018. The news portals of Basler Zeitung, Der Landbote, Zürcher Unterländer and Zürichsee-Zeitung as well as 24heures and Tribune de Genève will follow by the end of the year.
