Tageswoche-VR replaces two bosses with overall manager
At the Basler Tageswoche, the roles of management and editor-in-chief are being combined into a single position. It is not yet clear who will take on this new leadership role. However, the current heads of the newspaper are leaving.
Tageswoche intends to focus even more strongly on its digital business in future, announced Oscar Olano, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tageswoche publisher Neue Medien Basel, on Tuesday. In the editorial blog Mittendrin, he explained that the further implementation of the online-first strategy requires internal adjustments. For this reason, Managing Director Tobias Faust and current Editorial Director Dani Winter are leaving Tageswoche. Remo Leupin, currently still a member of the editorial team and Head of Print, will take over their duties on an interim basis until the end of September. At the beginning of October, Leupin will move to Migros Media in Zurich, as was announced on Monday.
Search for new overall manager
According to the Chairman of the Board of Directors, it is still unclear who will take over the overall management of Tageswoche. The search will begin this week, Olano said on request. Managing Director Fust and Editorial Director Winter are parting ways by mutual agreement. Both have been released with immediate effect. Winter was part of the team that conceived TagesWoche, which was launched in October 2011. In 2013, he took over as editorial director with the task of implementing the change in strategy from print first to online first. According to Olano, other members of the editorial team are not affected by the restructuring. The Tageswoche editorial team has around 20 full-time positions, which are shared by 30 employees. The print edition, which supplements the online presence every week, will be retained, Olano continued. The advertising business will be spun off from Neue Medien Basel AG. Various options are currently being examined for this spin-off. (SDA)
