Swiss presents safety video with Swiss landscape shots

Swiss International Air Lines has opted for real-life scenes rather than animation in its new safety video. Safety information is presented by real people at various locations throughout Switzerland, woven into an emotional story. The video will premiere on board the first Swiss Airbus A350.

The new safety video from Swiss International Air Lines combines regulations and important information with emotion and Swissness. The safety-relevant information for the upcoming flight is embedded in a story that tells of a journey through Switzerland. Real protagonists and impressive landscape shots are intended to attract passengers' attention and create a sense of closeness. The new safety video replaces the previous animated film after more than ten years.

"Our passengers should not only see the instructions, but also understand and remember them in the event of an emergency," says Oliver Buchhofer, Chief Operating Officer at Swiss. "Whether it's about buckling up correctly, stowing electronic devices, the location of emergency exits or the use of oxygen masks or life jackets: we want to ensure that we convey the crucial information in a memorable, clear and understandable way."

In addition, original graphics of safety cards and pictograms provide unmistakable messages in the video. Uniformed cabin crew also demonstrate the relevant safety-related procedures.

The story centers on a young woman who is about to visit her homeland. As she prepares for her flight at home in New York, she dreams of memories of past trips through Switzerland: hiking in the Alps, road trips through enchanting landscapes and visits to Zurich and Geneva. Visually and conceptually, the film is based on the new "Swiss Senses" cabin concept.

The film is designed to be timeless and to remain in use worldwide for several years. Thanks to its modular structure, updates can be integrated at a later date. Swiss is showing the film for the first time on board the new Airbus A350 during the transfer flight from Toulouse to Zurich at the beginning of October. Over the course of the winter, the video will be rolled out on the other aircraft types in the long-haul and short-haul fleet.
