SW for the ADC Awards: Stay at home next time
The ADC Cube award ceremony was pleasantly sober, says Urs Schnider, Communications Officer of Swiss Advertising (SW), in his commentary "KomKom". However, he was annoyed by a few "tense non-conformists" who gossiped, laughed and disturbed the event. His advice to them: just stay at home.
Comment: Kaufleuten Zurich, January 30, 2010, it's 9 p.m. in the evening. The ADC is awarding cubes. The event is pleasantly sober, which is just fine, because work is being honored here. There are no artificial lengths, presenter Patrick Rohr keeps the whole thing calm and pleasant. Of course, the more than 70 works that are shown and honored take time, in between one or the other probably thinks away from here. Even Schreibender allows himself a break in the foyer from time to time.
But what is noticeable and really annoying - as at many other industry events - is a bunch of incorrigible visitors (guests?) who are constantly bored, chatting, laughing and disrupting the event. Why are they all here, I ask myself? These woolly-headed, strained non-conformists who act incredibly cool, hugging anyone who gets in their way. They do everything they can to avoid appearing "normal", and in doing so, they really put themselves offside. People, next time you go to an event, think about whether it really interests you beforehand. Sometimes the world doesn't revolve around you. If an event bores you as much as you would like to believe, just stay at home - that would be really cool.
