The starting signal for the "Best of Swiss Web 2013" has been given
The traditional «Best of Swiss Web» competition is taking place for the 13th time. Submissions are now being accepted again.
In March 2013, the "Master of Swiss Web", an honorary prize winner and the best web projects will be awarded. There will also be a new "Mobile" category for mobile websites, services, applications and all forms of apps. Around 400 project submissions are expected again this year.
The 10 categories of "Best of Swiss Web
As of now, web and mobile projects that were created in 2012 or will be created in the future can be submitted in a total of ten specialist categories. At the big award night on March 21, 2013, the winning projects will be honored in front of 700 guests, the honorary prize will be awarded, and the "Master of Swiss Web" will be chosen. The title "Master of Swiss Web" will be awarded to the most convincing project overall in a multi-stage jury and audience vote. The winning projects of the "Le meilleur du web" award in French-speaking Switzerland will also be taking part in the award night.
The new category "Mobile
In the meantime, the mobile scene has grown into its own industry with a wide variety of market and service providers and - typical for Switzerland - with its own association. Websites have evolved into mobile websites optimized for display on mobile devices - optimized for small screens and touch controls, for example, short loading times even with changing network capacities, automatic recognition of portrait or landscape formats. The mobile industry produces many types of mobile projects, be it native and web apps, mobile websites or mobile applications. The board and the nine category jury presidents of "Best of Swiss Web" have therefore decided to launch the new category "Mobile". In this category, the best mobile projects - including all types of apps, mobile services, optimized mobile sites - will be identified and awarded prizes. The top-class jury will pay particular attention to aspects such as user experience, performance, and innovation, but also short installation processes and stability.
President of the new category jury is Andreas Hüppi, mobile pioneer and CEO of Bitforge AG.
Conditions of participation
Both producers and clients of web and mobile projects are eligible to participate in the Best of Swiss Web Award. These projects must have gone online in the last twelve months or have been produced in their essential parts in this period. Entry is subject to a fee.
The deadline for applications is January 7, 2013, and the awards ceremony will be held on March 21, 2013.
