SRG: Sven Wälti new head of interregional and international programming

Effective April 1, 2012, Sven Wälti will become the new head of interregional and international programming at the SRG’s General Directorate. He succeeds Urs Fitze, who has become the new head of fiction at SRF.

The role of 39-year-old Sven Wälti from Fribourg is to initiate and support interregional programs and promote exchange between the regions, as SRG writes in a press release on Friday. He will represent SRG in activities relating to film promotion (Pacte de l'audiovisuel) and Swiss cultural policy. He will also foster cooperation with foreign public media companies and advise SRG's quality management on program-specific issues.

Wälti studied law at the University of Fribourg (Switzerland) and completed further training in political communication and cultural management. Since 2002, he has been managing director of Cinésuisse, the umbrella organization of the Swiss film and audiovisual industry, and a member of the legal department of Suissimage, the Swiss cooperative for copyright in audiovisual works. From 2007 to 2010, he was also correspondent for German-speaking Switzerland at Ciné-Bulletin, the magazine of the Swiss film and audiovisual industry.
