SRF: Audience Council satisfied with "Treffpunkt Bundesplatz

The SRF's tri-media special feature «Treffpunkt Bundesplatz» won over the SRG Deutschschweiz Audience Council. The council was particularly impressed by the diverse range of online interactions.

From September 19 to 30, 2011, the editorial teams of Schweizer Radio und Fernsehen (SRF) left their usual studios for twelve days and produced their broadcasts on the elections to the National Council and Council of States from Bern's Bundesplatz. The aim of the large-scale project was to enable the public, politics and the media to meet. In the opinion of the Audience Council, the "Treffpunkt Bundesplatz" project can be considered a complete success. The project had succeeded in making the elections a topic and in offering a comprehensive election service and thus public service in the best sense of the word.

The Audience Council considers it positive that, thanks to the broad distribution on all SRF channels and, in particular, the interactions in the online and social media areas, broad sections of the population were confronted with the elections and were thus able to find a low-threshold and attractive access to the topic.

New standards set

With the trimedial project, SRF made the 2011 elections a tangible experience, the audience council continued. It was particularly positive that the reports on the respective stations and in the corresponding broadcast formats were prepared to suit the target audience and supplemented with entertaining elements. In the opinion of the audience council, the interaction of the various vectors was also pleasing. "Treffpunkt Bundesplatz" had shown that convergence works. The convergence that had already been accomplished on paper had now also become clearly noticeable in everyday life.
