SRF Director Nathalie Wappler has decided to merge the current Chief Editing Audio department and the News Digital department, which is responsible for the online information offering. Within the newly created department, audio formats for radio and online, as well as SRF's digital information offerings, will be produced in the future at locations in Bern and in Zurich. This will give the audio offerings within SRF even more weight and the Berne site an even more direct link to the digital transformation.

Digital transformation

The content and organizational design of the new department is the responsibility of the future co-management - together with the teams. Employees at both locations will be given the opportunity to play an active role in the digital transformation and the further development of the offerings. The organizational change will not entail any job cuts or a shift of positions from Berne to Zurich or from Zurich to Berne.

The internal and external tender for the Co-Department Head News Audio/News Digital and Membership in the Executive Board of SRF will take place in the coming days. The new organization will come into effect on January 1, 2024. The organizational adjustment comes in the wake of the succession plan for Lis Borner. The long-standing Editor-in-Chief Audio is taking early retirement at the end of October.
