"Local Newspaper Specialist"
Following its acquisition of «Quartier Echo,» Lokalinfo is now also purchasing the publishing rights to the «Klotener Anzeiger.» The only regional newspaper in its portfolio, the «Wochenspiegel,» will be discontinued at the end of the year.

The Zurich newspaper publisher, Lokalinfo, acquires the publishing rights of the "Klotener Anzeiger". The previous publisher, Spross, has thus found a buyer who will secure the publication of the newspaper title in the future and continue the intensive cooperation with the city of Kloten. The two parties have agreed not to disclose details of the sale. From April 2017, the "Klotener Anzeiger" will be published according to the Lokalinfo concept - it will remain a weekly subscription newspaper with a large monthly circulation and the official publication organ of the city.
Repositioning
Following this step, Spross is reorienting itself and will focus even more on funeral circulars in the future. The family-owned company has continuously developed and expanded this business segment in recent years. The strategic reorientation includes the sale of the publishing rights to the "Klotener Anzeiger", which Spross is publishing in its 67th year. "We have maintained good relations with Lokalinfo for years and are pleased to have found a promising solution for the newspaper title," says Kathrin Spross, who runs the company together with her brother Peter Spross. The editorial and sales departments of the "Klotener Anzeiger" will in future be based in the offices of the "Stadt-Anzeiger Opfikon / Glattbrugg" in Glattbrugg, which is also published by Lokalinfo. There will continue to be a contact point for subscribers and advertising customers of the "Klotener Anzeiger" at Spross's current premises in Kloten.
Focus on local
With this acquisition, Lokalinfo further strengthens its strong position in the airport region. The company, based in Zurich Altstetten in the canton of Zurich, publishes a total of ten newspapers and recently acquired a minority stake in the Tagblatt der Stadt Zürich, which is the official publication of Switzerland's largest city. This investment, the purchase of the "Klotener Anzeiger" and the recently announced acquisition of the publishing rights to the "Quartier Echo" have prompted Lokalinfo to strategically position itself as a specialist for local newspapers and official publications and to streamline its portfolio accordingly. Thus, with the "Wochenspiegel" published in the Zurich Unterland region, it will discontinue the publishing house's only regional newspaper at the end of December 2016.
